DKW Express's interstate transportation and trucking services allow you to safely and effectively move freight within the Midwest Region. There are also additional outbound freight options out west or south. We mostly work as Independent Dispatch Services for Owner Operators as well as have owner operators driving for DKW Express.
We are trusted by our drivers, owner-operators as well as our customers for the following reasons:
A trucking service to us is much more than picking up a load and delivering it to its destination. With fair wages, flexible scheduling, and responsiveness, we treat our professional drivers like family.
Since our company was started by two brothers that have been driving long-haul for over 25 years combined, we know that trucking is a tough job. We are completely transparent with our customers as well as drivers. There are many transportation companies out there, but very few that will do the same for you. DKW Express can provide information on the following transportation services.
While we specialize in Midwest flatbed and dry van runs, we are working tirelessly to expand our operation without sacrificing quality of our services. Below is a list of the most popular services we offer to customers.
Here is the information that you might need if you are a broker:

Our fleet has 53' and 48' flatbeds that can be used to ship items too large, wide, or heavy for standard freight shipping. They are open, and the loads are covered with tarps when required by customers. We haul various types of loads such as scrap metal, lumber, pipes, coils, forklifts, construction equipment, just to name a few.
Our drivers are highly skilled and safe. When hiring we go through an assessment process where we evaluate the ability of every driver to securely tie down the loads without damaging them.
Take a look at our recent article on Why Become a Flatbed Owner Operator.
Dry van shipping is one of the most popular methods for moving freight between the shipper and receiver. Dry vans are standard trailers that do not need to be temperature controlled and are usually loaded from a dock. Dry van freight consist of freight that has been loaded on pallets, packed into boxes, or otherwise secured inside the trailer.
Dry van trailers can be used to ship almost any kind of equipment or goods that fit within certain weight and size limitations. Our fleet consists of Dry Van trailers that measure 53 feet in length and are equipped with ventilation, swing doors, bottom rail and air ride. Our trailers can carry up to 45,000lbs in weight and they usually stay within the Midwest Region as well, similar to our flatbeds.
As a full truckload carrier, DKW Express understand the need to have your shipment picked up and delivered on schedule. We can haul local and regional shipments with flatbed or dry van equipment. If you can get it onto our trailers, we can haul it for you. Some of our super lightweight truck and trailer combos can haul up to 50,000lbs while staying legal. However, most of the freight is up to 48,000lbs.
Sometimes ordering a full sized trailer is not the most cost efficient option. If your freight can be added to a trailer that's not full yet without going over the legal weight limit, we could haul it for you. LTL loads can range anywhere from 100lbs up to 20,000 in some cases and should not take up more than half of the trailer (usually much less).
Some examples of LTL freight could be a few pallets of freight, a forklift that can go on a flatbed, 10ft of pipes, etc. The cost savings for you come in when your LTL load is combined with another LTL load on a trailer. Bare in mind, that depending on deliveries already loaded onto the trailer, this method might take a bit longer than Full Truckload which would go straight to your destination.
